More than 20 years of jiu-jitsu, community, and unforgettable moments, inside a garage that became legendary.
For over two decades, a simple garage at Chris and Melissa’s home became something much bigger than a training space. It became a proving ground, a second home, and a cornerstone of the Southern California jiu-jitsu community.
Generations of students stepped onto those mats, built friendships, tested themselves, and grew together.
This video is a tribute to The Garage told through the voices of the people who lived it. While this chapter is closing, the spirit of what was built there continues. The next chapter of Combat Base is just beginning.

Combat Base Camp – August 2026
Held August 21–23 at Elite Martial Arts in Redondo Beach, the camp features multiple seminars with Chris Haueter, a special seminar with Melissa Haueter, kickboxing, yoga, open mats, and time to connect with fellow practitioners.

Group Member’s MeetingAs the Combat Base Club continues to grow and evolve, we strive to foster a community of connection and support. We have created group member meetings where we will discuss topics that pertain to running groups. We never want to control or demand from our members but rather would like our members to set aside a minimal amount of time to connect with us.
We ask that each group attend the meeting two times per calendar year. During these meetings, we will communicate what is going on within the structure of the club, address any issues among members, network and connect. We will do our best to schedule the meetings at different times during the week to accommodate all group members.
If you would like to have a meeting at a certain time due to limited availability, please reach out to Melissa at info@combatbase.com.
Combat Base may be one or many of these things. One thing it is not is an academy looking to get you to join its ranks and follow orders.
